Like Sola Rosa’s Moves On, Get It Together builds on a more performance-based template than Andrew Spraggon’s early work, featuring a full band. Long-term Sola Rosa collaborators Matt Short (bass), Ben White (Guitar), and Will Scott (drums) are joined by vocalists Spikey Tee (best known for his work with Jah Wobble, Mr Scruff, and Bomb The Bass), UK MC Serocee, German-based poet and singer Bajka, and Wellington songstress Iva Lamkum. Produced and mixed by the legendary Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, Hammock House – Africa Caribe is more than just remixes of Fania’s back catalog. It’s a stunning two-disc album with each track approached and assembled differently, each on its own terms. The first disc is a live continuous mix by Claussell, but not like your average DJ mixing one track into another Joe’s states his goal for the mix-CD was to create an epic journey that begins in the Motherland (Africa) and moves to New York. The second disc features nine classic Fania tunes from Lou Perez, Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto and more, all re-worked with the Joe Claussell touch. In anticipation of their upcoming debut album to be released later this year on Sustainable Recordings, Agape featuring Nadia Harris unveils EP1. The four tracks are open, soulful and diverse with an element of dub that ties it all together. “She Really Likes It” (watch the video) has echos of funk, soul, ska, drum & bass and Brazilian rhythms, which come together to create a mood that is fun and uptempo. “I And I” is a soulful broken beat track that is acoustic as well as electronic, and “If Love” is a Reggae/Dub song with a one love message. In addition to producer/DJ Erick Paredes and Jamaican singer/songwriter Nadia Harris, the EP features an all-star cast of musicians that make up the live band.
