For the past two decades, DJ SUN has been contributing to the live soundtrack of Houston, Texas with an aural palette of funk, soul, jazz, disco, early hip-hop and trip-hop. Just recently he released his first full length album titled, One Hundred, which represents the culmination of all these years of work. The lead single from the album is titled, “Heart Seed,” and features Leah Alvarez on vocals. This digital DJ promo includes the full album One Hundred with an exclusive bonus version of the single, “Heart Seed,” featuring Martin Perna on flute. Led by producer, engineer, and percussionist Amon (Turntables on the Hudson / Afrokinetic), the Analog Players Society (APS) is a collective effort spearheaded and produced by Amon himself, featuring a large ensemble cast of musicians, DJs, producers, and percussionists rooted at The Hook Studio. This digital DJ sampler features songs from APS’s forthcoming debut album, Hurricane Season In Brooklyn, out 9/25. The first track from the album, “Free,” is a driving horn fueled joint that’s hungrily swallowed the 90s Acid Jazz sound and spit it back out as something so much more live & funky. The Kon & The Gang EP contains six brand new dancefloor-ready remixes of all-time disco classics. Two are unreleased Kon remixes, previously played exclusively on Gilles Peterson’s BBC1 radio show around the same time Gilles crowned Kon the Re-edit/Rework king of 2012. The four others are by Caserta, Venice Beach, DJ Smash, and Hippie Torrales – the winners of the Kon & The Gang remix competition, hosted by Legitmix. Included in this DJ Promo is Kon’s remix of Chic‘s “Good Times,” plus a bonus mini-mix of the EP. Legitmix will also be giving away Caserta’s “I’m Coming Out” edit and the original track to introduce you to their ground breaking platform that recreates a remix using the track it samples (more on Legitmix).

Parisian groove theorists Bibi Tanga & The Selenites return with 40° of Sunshine, the group’s most warm, relaxed and deeply poetic recording yet. This digital DJ promo includes “My Heart Is Jumping” from the album with a space disco remix by Captain Planet, and Mat Schreyer‘s version with Computer Jay. “My Heart Is Jumping” has a darker backstory than the rest, as Bibi recounts: “the track is built around [collaborator] Professeur Inlassable‘s loops of an obscure 1930s recording, which had a woman singing the words, ‘my heart is jumping.’ Two days after le Professeur made the loop he had a little heart attack of his own. On 40° of Sunshine, the Selenites are tighter than ever, and Bibi stresses that, “this record is an even more collective effort than the previous one.” It’s this kind of creative embrace that makes the album such a surprising and satisfying listen – you never know where your head will roam, but your feet will always be firmly planted on the dancefloor.

The release of Geronimo sees Fred Falke – one of the pioneers of the renaissance of the French House sound – paired with New York’s The Knocks. The result is unexpectedly brilliant and shows a perfect annexation of both the artists’ musical output to date, whilst somehow being incredibly futuristic. It features Falke’s trademark bass and classic spacey disco influence of the late 90s, the electro and vocal sampling of The Knocks, and a slightly menacing, infectious synthy groove. Recently played by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 and now available exclusively at Beatport with a wide release on July 23rd via Kitsuné, the EP also features remixes by Louis La Roche, Aylen and Lenno.

From humble origins in Detroit, Terrel Wallace aka Tall Black Guy has been steadily building a massive online following through a steady stream of productions championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Anthony Valadez, and countless others – as well as recently being named the winner of the Robert Glasper Remix competition. Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings set their sights on a proper full-length release with Tall Black Guy as it became evident that Terrel was not only an incredible producer and collector of sounds past – but also a connoisseur of a whole new generation of beatmakers. This group of international producers remain mostly unknown to a larger audience, and continue to bubble and simmer just under the surface. Bastard Jazz founder DJ DRM asked TBG to compile an album with 11 of his favorite joints from this tidepool of contemporaries. Countless nights of rapid ear movements later, and with an added touch from the tall one himself, the set is primed for release as: Tempo Dreams Vol. 1. Included on this sampler are highlights tracks from the compilation by Ta-Ku (Project Mooncircle, Brownswood), Switzerland’s Chief, Brussels based beatmakers MonkeyRobot, and of course the man of the hour.

There are five words slipped into the middle of “Night and Day” – the hyper-infectious, propulsive track that comes halfway through Hot Chip‘s fifth album, – that in many ways sum up what’s In Our Heads, out Tuesday, June 12.
