DJ PROMO: Salvador Santana - “Don’t Do It” Remixes by DJ Vadim, DarkStarr, Michna, & J-Boogie

February 1st, 2010

This week, 26-year-old keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter Salvador Santana makes his solo debut with the Keyboard City full-length. Having previously served up a remix EP for the title track, this digital DJ promo includes a smattering of remixes for the heavy funky jam, “Don’t Do It.” DJ Vadim thickens up the original beat for maximum head nod effect. Ashley Beedle and Cosmo of DarkStarr beef the track up with an in-your-face disco bass synth and cosmic tinges. Also opting to speed up the tempo, Michna turns in a quirky version with a growling bassline. And last but not least, the J-Boogie remix gives it a broken beat facelift, featuring horns and bongos that are sure to keep the dancefloor gyrating.

DJ PROMO: Trus’me - In The Red Album Sampler

October 23rd, 2009

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Fat City Recordings and Prime Numbers present the much-anticipated album In The Red by Mancunian wunderkind Trus’me. In contrast to his debut album, Trus’me has collaborated with several vocalists and musicians. On this digital DJ promo, Dam-Funk, Stones Throw recording artist and L.A.’s rising star of the nu-boogie scene, joins Trus’me on a low slung interpretation of the WasNotWas disco epic "Wheel Me Out." Also on board is the jazzy Detroit innovator Amp Fiddler, who features on two tracks: a bass & rhodes heavy cover of Bill Withers’ bittersweet classic "Can We Pretend" and "Put It On Me." Paul Randolph, Jazzanova’s current front-man, provides vocals for a house’d up version of West Phillips’ boogie favourite "Sucker for a Pretty Face." Closing out the package, Trus’me flies solo on the ethereal "Sweet Mother."
