Perennial UK house music duo Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx return to the fore with their fifth longplayer, Scars, an album that harkens back to the undeniable energy of their smashing cross-over debut, Remedy. This digital DJ promo delivers the radio edit and the album version of their Top 20 summer anthem, “Raindrops,” with seven extremely diverse remixes to boot, including: the driving Funkagenda & Paul Thomas Re-Dux, Robbie Rivera’s four-to-the-floor techno versions, Joker & Ginz raygun synth-laden Re-Mix, the squelching Under New Management remix, Doorly’s sub-shattering dubstep, and AN21 & Philip Jensen’s all-out rock out. Featuring Felix’s twisted vocals, a punch-the-air chorus and a pulsing dance groove, this vintage-style Jaxx tune is as unavoidable as the Earth is to raindrops.

    the robbie rivera dub is a good version to throw down. but the real secret weapon is the under new management remix!! ridiculous!

    This track and the remixes aren’t my cup of tea, but I’d dismissed the Basement Jaxx entirely a few years back. The video is interestingly made and when I heard Jose James, Amp Fiddler and Santigold were all appearing on the new album, it made me quite curious to see what they were up to. But Raindrops will not be coming out of any of my speakers.
