Co-produced by Damon Albarn and XL Recordings’ Richard Russell, all eleven tracks are co-written by the three, plus Bobby’s longtime songwriting partner Harold Payne, except for the radically rearranged spirituals “Deep River” and “Jubilee (Don’t Let Nobody Turn You Around).” This digital DJ promo features the title track, plus a more uptempo version of the album’s “Please Forgive My Heart,” which will be an iTunes bonus track. Watch the documentary on the making of the album. Bobby will be performing live at Giant Step’s annual SummerStage event in Central Park, NYC on June 7th with Willis Earl Beal. CONTEST: Get Your Remix/Re-Edit Featured On A ‘Kon & The Gang’ Compilation via Legitmix
World-famous digger Kon (of Kon & Amir), who was called the “re-edit/rework king of 2012″ by Gilles Peterson, is putting together a 6-track compilation, Kon & The Gang, featuring two of his edits. To complete the set, Kon will select the final four remixes and re-edits from his favorites amongst the most popular submissions in this contest, hosted by our friends at Legitmix.
The Kon & The Gang compilation, along with the winning entries, will be sold on Legitmix, a new revolutionary platform where remixers can sell and promote their work without sample-clearances.

Stream tracks above (skip with arrows) Legendary R&B/soul recording artist Sarah Dash, famous as a member of the iconic 70s female chart-topping trio Labelle and for her work with artists like the Rolling Stones and Laura Nyro, is brandishing her first official new dance music single in more than twenty years. “Hold On (He’ll Be Right There)” (out May 1) will be a one-off release on the new indie label Superlatude. Written and produced by Jason King and Toronto-based producer Gavin Bradley, the song captures the pulse-pounding sound of retro 90s gospel house music, reframing Dash’s powerful and soulful vocals in a cutting-edge dancefloor setting. This DJ promo also features a stirring gospel remix by DJ Spen, the legendary pioneering producer of spiritual house music associated with The Basement Boys and The Jasper Street Company. This summer, Dash will continue to perform her one-woman show Sarah Dash: One Woman at NY’s Laurie Beechman Theater on May 18, June 9, July 13. |
